Helpful Hints

To avoid pooling of colors, whether using a single skein or multiple skeins, divide the yarn into at least two balls and alternate balls every few rows.

When winding slippery yarns such as Sunlight and various Silks using a swift, place the swift so the orientation of the skein is vertical.

Yarn Selections

We are fiber artists and have chosen yarns that we would like to use in our own work. Most yarns are natural fibers, and some have a small amount of nylon added for strength.

Dyes

Our yarns are dyed following safe dyeing practices. Fiber-reactive dyes are used on cellulose fibers—cotton and rayon yarns. Acid dyes are used on yarns containing wool, alpaca, mohair, and nylon.

Care

All our yarns are washed after dyeing. However, you may find some color in the wash water. This is more likely with intense, deep colors.

Although some of our yarns are machine-washable, we recommend handwashing most items made using our yarns.
